First-Year Orientation Guide Challenge

This Competition will run from the time the Competition is posted on UKZN’s CLMS Facebook page on Tuesday, 23 March 2021 until Friday, 26 March 2021. Entries received after the closing time will not be considered.

  1. Participants must be registered College of Law and Management Studies first-year students or first-year students who have accepted a firm offer from the College with a valid student/ ID number.
  2. Entries must be submitted by the participant themselves and not by a third party on the Participant’s behalf.
  3. By entering this Competition, all participants agree to be bound by these terms and conditions, which will be interpreted by the Promoter and the Promoter’s decision regarding any issue with the Competition will be final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
  1. Participants must solve a hint to decipher the page that the competition icon is located on the Orientation Guide, take a screenshot and submit their entry.
  2. Only one entry per entrant as duplicate entries will not be considered.
  3. Incomplete or incorrect entries will not be considered as a valid entry.
  1. By entering, participants stand a chance to win one of 40 Nando’s meal vouchers valued at R150 each.
  2. The prize is non-transferable or redeemable for cash.
  1. The winners will be determined by a random draw as soon as reasonably possible after the close of the Competition.
  2. The potential winners will be contacted by the College through the contact details supplied on their entry after the draw has taken place.
  3. The potential winners will be required to respond to the winning notification within 48 (forty-eight) hours of receiving the communication.
  4. If the selected potential winner cannot receive direct messages from the College, does not respond to the notification within 48 (forty-eight) hours, or if after first being contacted by the College is not reachable, the potential winner will forfeit the prize and a replacement winner will be selected from remaining qualifying participants. This process shall continue until the winner has been contacted in terms of the terms and conditions.
  5. After the closing date, and once the winners have been contacted, the winners will be announced, subject to the winner’s consent.
  6. If the potential winner qualifies, the College will arrange for delivery of the prize.
  7. The College reserves the right to select an alternative winner in the event that they reasonably believe, in their sole discretion, that the winner is not eligible to win; has contravened any of these terms and conditions; acted fraudulently with regards to the Competition; has acted in a manner that is not in the spirit of the Competition; their conduct can be reasonably interpreted as scamming or circumventing the rules of the Competition; acted fraudulently with regards to the Competition if it would be unlawful to award the prize or if the winner fails to accept the prize after 2 (two) attempts for any reason whatsoever, if after first being contacted by the College, is not reachable, or the winner fails to provide the College with the required information to hand over the prize. In this instance the winner will be disqualified and forfeit the prize. The College’s decision shall be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  8. Prize winners will be required to sign an acknowledgement of receipt of their prize, if applicable.
  1. The College reserves the right to remove any videos or content uploaded should this be deemed unsuitable by the College.
  2. All content is published at the discretion of the College.
  3. Any videos or other material uploaded by entrants that do not necessarily reflect UKZN’s views or ideals.
  4. The College does not warrant the accuracy of any statement made by participants.
  5. Videos that are uploaded must be original.
  6. Participants participate at their own risk.
  7. The video cannot include inappropriate, offensive, illegal or obscene material or gestures (e.g. hate speech or pornographic images).
  8. The video cannot disparage, reflect poorly upon or otherwise adversely affect the goodwill and/or reputation of UKZN.
  9. The video must be relevant to the theme of the Competition.
  10. Any video determined by the College in their sole discretion to be in violation of the preceding criteria will not be published or removed immediately, will be void and will not result in Competition entry.
  1. Participation in the Competition will require for example that your name, Facebook account and photo be displayed on Facebook and other UKZN social and digital platforms. SHOULD YOU NOT AGREE THERETO, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ENTER THE COMPETITION.
  2. Winners will have to give permission to the use of their name or image in marketing material or participate in any marketing activity. The College may publish the winner’s name and images on, including but not limited to, the College’s Facebook page or website, if applicable, without any liability to the College or remuneration due to the winners. The participant grants the College the non-exclusive, irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable, sub-licensable right and license to use, perform, exhibit, reproduce and/or otherwise exploit the comment, photo and/or video in any manner and in any and all distribution channels, venues or media now known or hereafter devised, without further notice or any compensation to participant. Participant further agrees, upon the College’s request and without compensation, to sign any and all necessary and appropriate documents so as to effect, perfect or record such grant of license rights.
